Lauren & Mark | Morgansvlei

Brace yourself - get a cup of coffee - its a looong post!

Let me tell you about Lauren and Mark. They are a great couple that were both living and working - separately - in the UK for some time until they came back to SA in 2007 to spend Christmas with their families. And it was around this time that they met for the first time through a friend of a mutual friend. A relationship sparked and carried on via skype when they went back to the UK and eventually moving back to Cape Town.

Mark was planning to propose to Lauren for a while and then an opportunity arrose that he had to take hold of. This was when Lauren received a cruise ship holiday for 2 from her company to go to the Portugese Islands ( So jealous!!). He contemplated whether to take the 'real' ring along on the cruise - I mean, what if it dropped on the deck or it went overboard!? Eeek! - so bought a 'make-do-for-now' ring on board the ship and called Laurens dad. It must have been the most beautiful sunset Lauren has ever seen the evening that he proposed!

Now, back to the wedding day. The ceremony and reception were both held at the breathtaking venue in Tulbagh, aptly named Morgansvlei. And let me tell you...it was hot! The temperature peaked around 38'C. I met with the groom and the groomsmen, which had me in stitches with their jokes and I think it helped ease any nerves Mark had, at the cottage they were getting ready. The guys were relaxed sipping beers and prepping their suits while the ladies were having final touches done to hairdo's and make-up. Those bridesmaids dresses and alicebands were gorgeous, not to mention Laurens dress....wow! We even needed to delay things a bit as the preacher got his GPS coordinates mixed-up and was 30min late. Otherwise, the day ran smoothly despite the slight delay and intense heat and everyone had a big party at the end of the day!

Thanks again Mark and Lauren - it truly was an amazing day and I had fun capturing it!
